Registration is $10/person (unless noted otherwise), which includes your TeamWalk T-shirt. Register early, as sizes cannot be guaranteed.

TeamWalk Connections feature the following:

"Connection" - a fun time to meet others and share stories and concerns. This is usually done over a breakfast or lunch.

"TeamWalk" - a small walkathon to raise funds for research to help us find a cure. You'll raise sponsorships for your participation, not distance walked, and can walk, stroll or roll as little or as much as you'd like!  Visit our Tips page for tips and a Sample Letter. Use this Sponsorship Form to keep track of your sponsors and mail it in with your donations one week ahead of your TeamWalk.

Note:  Some of our TeamWalk Connections are weekend events. They may include an Arrival Dinner event the evening before or other additional activities.

The second TeamWalk Connection in NC will be held on Sunday, September 16th at 2 pm in downtown Raleigh. The event will start in front of the Second Empire Restaurant at 330 Hillsborough St, loop around the state capitol building and grounds, and finish back in front of the Second Empire. We will have covered areas outside and a wide flat road to walk or roll on.

Just like last year, we will hold the competitive Magnificent Mile Race first, which will be followed by the TeamWalk and non-competitive fun run/walk. Similar to last year, the course is laid out so TeamWalkers can turn around at any point. The two significant improvements from our 2006 event are warmer weather and no hills.

We are excited that we are once again partnering with the NC Roadrunner's Club, with those proceeds supporting SPF Research Awards as well! Note: We are honored that Dr. Richard Bedlack from Duke University, a researcher on motor neuron diseases and head of the ALS Clinic, will be back with us to talk about the latest in research.

Why Your Support Matters

There is currently no treatment to prevent, stop or reverse the degenerative process in PLS or HSP. These diseases attack one’s ability to walk, often leaving their victims in wheelchairs. They can also rob people of the ability to use their hands and arms, and even to speak or cause other neurological problems as well. The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation is the only organization in the Americas that is dedicated to raising funds specifically for HSP and PLS research. The organization is 100% volunteer managed and the TeamWalk For Our Cures is the national, community event to raise funds for research.
