2009 TeamWalk Connections

Walk with us today, so we can walk with you  tomorrow.

Yes, it’s that time again. TeamWalks are coming your way. Below is a list of TeamWalks and Connections currently on the docket. Some of these are still under construction, so keep checking back for the latest information. Or feel free to email or call the contact person listed for the event you’re interested in attending. If you’ve never walked the walk or made a connection, take that step in 2009. You won’t regret it.

Walker by Proxy Program
An assigned Walker will wear your nametag and walk in your place. If you'd like, we’ll post your photo or note on the special Walker by Proxy board along with all of the other Walkers by Proxy. You'll collect sponsorships, just as though you were walking at the TeamWalk!

It's an opportunity to raise money for the SPF!

TeamWalk Connections feature the following:

"Connection" - a fun time to meet others and share stories and concerns. This is usually done over a breakfast or lunch.

"TeamWalk" - a small walkathon to raise funds for research to help us find a cure. You'll raise sponsorships for your participation, not distance walked, and can walk, stroll or roll as little or as much as you'd like!  Visit our Tips page for tips and a Sample Letter. Use this Sponsorship Form to keep track of your sponsors and mail it in with your donations one week ahead of your TeamWalk.

Note:  Some of our TeamWalk Connections are weekend events. They may include an Arrival Dinner event the evening before or other additional activities.

See summaries and photos of the 2007 TeamWalk Connections here.

A TeamWalk is a walkathon to raise funds for research. It is a pre-paid event. You collect sponsorships for your participation, not distance walked. Visit our Fundraising Tips and a Sample Letter. Use this Sponsorship Form to keep track of your sponsors. Mail it with your donations one week before the TeamWalk (bring late sponsorships with you).

Why Your Support Matters

There is currently no treatment to prevent, stop or reverse the degenerative process in PLS or HSP. These diseases attack one’s ability to walk, often leaving their victims in wheelchairs. They can also rob people of the ability to use their hands and arms, and even to speak or cause other neurological problems as well. The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation is the only organization in the Americas that is dedicated to raising funds specifically for HSP and PLS research. The organization is 100% volunteer managed and the TeamWalk For Our Cures is the national, community event to raise funds for research.
