TeamWalk
This session was co-chaired by Kathi Geisler and Jim
Campbell. Over the years Kathi has chaired several TeamWalk
events. Jim is a first-time chair of the 2009
New England TeamWalk.
Over two dozen people
attended the breakout session. Kathi emphasized the
social aspect of the TeamWalk event noting that
similar to successful Connections, which she has also
chaired in various locations, there had to be something
interesting to draw the SPF members to the event.
Jim emphasized the fund raising aspect of the event
noting that TeamWalks are SPF’s main source of
revenue. Jim noted that the success of the fund raising
depended on the SPF community members in the region
reaching out to friends, relatives and businesses
personally to solicit donations ahead of the event. He
suggested that his wife Thurza, a leading SPF TeamWalk
fund raiser, has found a personalized solicitation
letter to be the most effective way to approach people.
Both Kathi and Jim referred to the soon to be published
TeamWalk resource book as a good way for those
new to the process to organize and implement a
successful TeamWalk.
