SPF Talks PARKING MOBILITY

INVITATION: You are invited to a Zoom meeting with Mack March of Parking Mobility. Parking Mobility is a nonprofit effort to end accessible parking abuse headquartered in Austin, TX.
They provide the Parking Mobility App as a free download for anyone to use to help gather data necessary to achieve their mission. The App works everywhere and they have more than 100,000 users worldwide. In partner communities volunteers use the App to report violations and a citation is issued to the owner of the vehicle who can pay the fine or opt to complete an online offender education course. This program has proven to be the most successful approach to ending accessible parking abuse. They’ve reduced violations by as much as 80%.
Parking Mobility has been operational in Texas communities for 13 years and encourage groups to join them in achieving their mission by using the App and helping the program grow into new communities.

Mack Marsh, is the CEO of Austin Accessible Technologies and Executive Director of Access Empowerment and is responsible for the daily operations of the Parking Mobility program to end accessible parking abuse.
Before coming to Access Empowerment, Mack was the Executive Director of the Texas Association of Centers for Independent Living (TACIL). Prior to coming to Texas to lead TACIL, Mack was a life-long resident of Louisiana where he owned a successful wholesale company for 13 years.
In 2001, Mack experienced a spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia. After his injury, Mack worked as an Independent Living Specialist at New Horizons Independent Living Center (NHILC) in Shreveport, LA. In 2002, Mack was named Director of IL at NHILC. He was instrumental in helping secure equipment and funding to address the critical needs of people with disabilities following hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, helping to raise and distribute over $6.5 million in durable medical equipment. In 2007, Mack turned his attentions to injury prevention becoming the Marketing Director for ThinkFirst, the National Injury Prevention Program. In two years with ThinkFirst, Mack educated over 400,000 youth and young adults on how to prevent traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. In 2009 and 2010, Mack was the director of the Louisiana Medicaid Infrastructure Grant, tripling the grant’s income and helping leverage in excess of $8 million for non-profit organizations providing supports and services toward employment for people with disabilities and helping over 6,000 people go to work. Mack has a proven record of organizing and motivating volunteers and staff to achieve objectives of the organizations he has lead.
SPF TALKS SPASTICITY MANAGEMENT

INVITATION: You are invited to a Zoom meeting with Bianca Martinez, MD, FAAPMR on Spasticity Management. An overview of the options available to treat spasticity and improve walking in patients with HSP and PLS. We will discuss oral medications, the use of orthotics, botulinum toxin injections, phenol chemoneurolysis, and cutting edge techniques such as cryodenervation.

Bianca Martinez, M.D., is a board certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with a focus on interventional spasticity and tone management. She went to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital / Moss Rehab. She then completed a fellowship in spasticity management at Thomas Jefferson University. She provides comprehensive neurological rehabilitation care for adult patients affected by neurological disorders.
Her main focus is to improve quality of life and maximize function such as the ability to walk or transfer and perform activities of daily living. Her treatment plan is directed by the patient's goals and utilizes a combination of oral medications, bracing and splinting, therapy, equipment, nerve and muscle injections (selective diagnostic motor nerve blocks, phenol chemoneurolysis, chemodenervation with botulinum toxin), intrathecal baclofen pumps, and referrals to orthopedic surgery as needed to achieve goals.
