Join SP-Foundation in fundraising for #HSPandPLS Medical Research

The 5k, Run, Walk, or Roll brings together friends and families to raise awareness and vital funds for research into HSP and PLS. Every step, whether running, walking, or rolling, helps support those affected and brings us closer to breakthroughs that can change lives.

The 5K Run, Walk or Roll isn’t just about covering 3.1 miles—it’s about getting your body moving and helping fund critical medical research. If running, walking, or rolling a full 5K isn’t your thing, no worries. Choose any activity that gets you active for about an hour and make that your event. Struggling to find a full hour? Break it up—do something for 20 minutes over three separate days. That works, too.

You can participate with an adaptive device like a manual or electric wheelchair, a rollator, a stationary bike, or even a treadmill. Last year, someone played golf as their event. Others swam laps or played tennis. It’s totally up to you.

And if you see a physical therapist, count that session as your 5K. Whether you’re at a mall, a high school track, a gym, a park, or on a greenway, there are plenty of places to get moving.

The 2026 Spastic Paraplegia Foundation 5K Run, Walk or Roll

May 1st through Oct 31st

This past year, $100,000 was raised for medical research. This year, with your help, we hope to raise at least $110,000.

Once you have raised/contributed at least $25, you will be mailed your personal race bib. Once you raise/contribute at least $100, you will be mailed a complementary 5K T-shirt. Please remember that only those that set up a peer-to-peer fundraising page and raise at least $100 will receive a T-shirt. You can raise money on your own or as part of a team. If you would like to compete to win a top three medal, please set up a personal page so that I can manage your fundraising easier. I can always add your personal amounts to a team.

If you plan to host an event, please send an email to jim.sheorn@sp-foundation.org. You will be emailed an event guide to help prepare. We will also have signage available for mile markers, sponsorship and start and finish.
