"Why Potatoes in your Pants?" Because it tries to simulate the extra effort (and early fatigue) that's felt when your muscles aren't working (either in a coordinated way or at all). There's the instability/ lack of coordination/ imbalance involved, and the early fatigue from having to work so hard. Potato Pants simulates the early stages - remember - this is progressive paralysis, so things get much worse to the point of not being able to walk or talk. The simple things that you take for granted become much harder (if at all possible) - like walking, talking, putting on shoes, rolling in bed, scratching an itch. It is very frustrating, to say the least. So in trying to describe it to her daughter, Lori Renna Linton said it was like having Potato Pants. Hence, Potato Pants was born. The concept was born in Austria - let's bring it to North America!

By the way - Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) and Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS) do not know geographic boundaries - they affect people in Europe, North America, South America - Everywhere! The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation (SPF) is the ONLY organization in North America that specifically funds research into these diseases. So, put some Potato Pants on and help us fund Research! Thanks

There is no registration - just show up! So. please encourage everyone to show up and participate, watch, learn, have fun. We plan to have food vendors there and 3 events - the basic Obstacle Course, a more "competitive" Potato Pants Suit Challenge" and a 3rd event which includes playing game invented for Potato Pants - called Holey Potato!
