Information on Traveling To and Staying in Washington DC
SP-Foundation does not have a hotel room block. Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel or lodging arrangements. There are many options, and the below list can be used by attendees for a sense of what is available.
All attendees are encouraged to purchase flexible and/or refundable airline tickets and hotel/lodging.
There are many hotels located in and outside Washington, DC. Attendees may stay near Capitol Hill, Downtown DC or in the Virginia and Maryland suburbs. Many locations in the DC area are metro accessible. In addition, taxis and ride sharing vehicles (uber, lyft, etc.) are available in most areas with hotels.
Parking in Washington, DC is a premium. If attendees drive in a vehicle to Washington, DC, they will be responsible for paying for parking at their hotel or on the street.
There are three airports in the Washington, DC area. Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest and most convenient metro or taxi into DC. Baltimore Washington International (BWI) and Dulles (IAD) airports are also in the area but farther from Downtown DC. The train station, Union Station, is convenient to Capitol Hill.

- Capitol Shuttle – For your convenience, the Capitol Visitor Center provides an on-demand shuttle service for individuals who use wheelchairs or who need mobility assistance. The shuttles run from the bus drop-off and pick-up areas on the West side of the Capitol to the Capitol Visitor Center entrance at the center of the Capitol’s East Plaza. They operate continuously, as needed, from 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Saturday.
